We have diamond sawn sandstone flags with a honed upper face, a slightly beveled edge and riven sandstone flags where the edges have been worked by hand in the traditional way to give a truly authentic finish. Both are suitable for use both inside and out.
We used the diamond cut flags around the outside of the Shawfield Mansion and are planning to use the riven flags in the kitchen and possibly the basement. The diamond cut flags come in three standard sizes: 600 x 600; 600 x 300; 900 x 300 - in these sizes they work in with the walling system allowing lines to run through in areas bounded by walling from the flags through to the coping stones.
