Plaster Coving - Plain

Originally plain plaster coving was run in situ, it would be built up with layers of plaster in the same way that modern plasterers still plaster a wall today. A reverse wooden mould was run across the wet plaster to produce a single continuous run of coving.

When in Victorian times the use of coving became much more widespread, it became common for it to be made in moulds in the plasterers workshop and then brought to site where it was fixed to the walls and ceiling with brass screws.

It was often cast in exact lengths with mitres to suit specific rooms using the same methods we still use to make all our handmade plaster coving today.
